The Nails Specialty Program prepares students to clean, shape, and beautify fingernails and toenails. The program’s mission is to help students gain the skills and knowledge needed to become Licensed Nail Specialists and start a successful career in the beauty industry.
Instruction is designed to qualify students for employment upon successfully obtaining a Nails Specialist License.

- Communication, leadership, and employability skills
- Safe and efficient work practices
- Florida cosmetology laws and rules
- Bacteriology and infection control
- Anatomy and physiology
- Nail and skin structure and growth
- Art of makeup
- Spa manicure and pedicure techniques
- Acrylic and gel nail extensions
- Nail art and design
- Proper use of tools, implements, and chemicals
- Health, safety, and sanitation procedures in the trade
Students receive hands-on training in a professional laboratory setting, using the tools and equipment of the industry while learning safe, sanitary, and efficient techniques.
Program Length & Structure
Total Program
Students complete the Manicurist and Pedicurist course through classroom instruction and hands-on practice in nail care, spa services, and enhancement techniques.
Upon completion of all program hours, students are eligible to apply for the State License in Nails Specialty.
Admission Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Not currently enrolled in a K–12 program

Employment Requirements
- Complete an Esthetics Program of 180 Hours
- Complete an HIV/AIDS Initial Licensure Exam
